SBC Initiative Maps with ASP for SME Model
Charles Laughlin , 8/2/2000

Issue: Will the Directory Organization Play a Role?

News: SBC Communications is launching an initiative to leverage its $4 billion acquisition of Sterling Commerce, an e-business solutions provider. The core of its strategy is to provide SBC's three million business customers with a single point of contact for integrated online infrastructure services.

SBC is leveraging its expanded hosting capabilities through a new Internet Data Center created in a joint venture with Cisco Systems and a $100 million investment in InQuent Inc., parent company of WebHosting.com. These hosting facilities will support a rollout of ASP and application hosting offerings, including Microsoft Exchange 2000 and hosted e-commerce applications through the Sterling Commerce subsidiary.
