The Kelsey Report® Advisory

Meta Search Meets Meta Yellow Pages
Neal Polachek , 3/31/2004

SUMMARY: Last Friday morning, the management teams of InfoSpace and Switchboard penned the first substantive deal in what The Kelsey Group (TKG) believes could be a series of mergers, acquisitions and new partnerships within the local directory and search marketplace. This acquisition helps both InfoSpace and Switchboard position themselves in the face of increasing competition from Yahoo!, Google, Verizon SuperPages and ultimately, we anticipate, Microsoft's MSN.

The two companies will benefit by joining largely complementary technology assets and online traffic. Together, InfoSpace and Switchboard are now in a stronger competitive position than they were just a week ago.
