FindWhat Goes After SMEs with Miva Acquisition

Summary: Florida-based paid search provider FindWhat has announced it will buy Miva corp., an e-commerce software company and builder of Web storefronts. The deal is part of a small business customer acquisition and retention strategy that builds on FindWhat's existing customer base of small- to medium-sized businesses (SMEs). Miva has approximately 70,000 small business customers that operate roughly 85,000 storefronts. FindWhat intends to market its paid search services to these customers.

Kelsey Group LCM data validate the existence of a strategic opportunity for FindWhat to tap the local, small business market through the Miva acquisition. However, successful realization of that opportunity is by no means guaranteed the SME population is notoriously diverse and unwieldy but the opportunity is definitely there.
