Future of the Yellow Pages in the Spotlight at The Kelsey Group’s Directory Driven Commerce 2005 Conference
Princeton, NJ (May 27, 2005) -- The Kelsey Group expects more than 400 senior executives from the global Yellow Pages community to convene at its Directory Driven Commerce 2005 Conference (DDC2005) taking place September 27-29, 2005, at the Denver Marriott Tech Center, Denver, Colorado.
The Yellow Pages industry is coming under fire from a variety of competitors. Still, it is the most profitable advertising medium in the world, with some segments experiencing robust growth and ongoing investment activity suggesting positive future prospects.
DDC2005 will consider the question, ‘What is the future of the Yellow Pages?’ The answer will encompass a range of industry trends, technological innovations and other market influences, including: local search and Internet Yellow Pages, companion directories, user-facing advertising, brand building, enhanced content and improving the sales force.
“Our research indicates that advertisers are leveraging new media options in order to reach consumers who are increasingly turning to the Internet to inform their shopping decisions,” said Charles Laughlin, program director for The Kelsey Report® and DDC2005 conference chair. “At DDC2005 we will examine how the Yellow Pages industry can continue to compete in this changing marketplace by evolving from a product-driven to a user-driven and customer-focused medium.”
Kelsey Group analysts will present data from the latest wave of the Local Commerce MonitorSM, a tracking study conducted jointly by The Kelsey Group and ConStat, Inc. Since the first wave was conducted in 1999, LCM has become a key industry barometer of local advertiser behavior. The study asks local businesses how they invest in technology to promote and manage their businesses, how they allocate their media budgets, and what their expectations are for future activities to attract customers.
“This is the only multi-day conference about the Yellow Pages industry that is not hosted by a trade association,” said CEO John F. Kelsey, III. “This allows speakers and attendees to discuss the business of Yellow Pages, broadly defined to include local Internet searches, from a completely objective perspective.”
Since 1988, The Kelsey Group’s annual Yellow Pages conference has been recognized as the definitive event on the future of the industry.
