The Kelsey Group¹s Annual Yellow Pages Conference to Focus on Customer Acquisition and Retention Strategies

Keynote by Sensis CEO Andrew Day; Sessions on wireless directories, spending patterns of local advertisers, and the convergence of online directories and local search.

Princeton, NJ (May 6, 2004) – The Kelsey Group expects more than 400 executives representing every segment of the directory industry to convene at the firm's Directory Driven Commerce (DDC2004) conference, July 21-23, at the Omni Hotel at CNN Center in Atlanta, Georgia. With the theme of "Reinventing the Yellow Pages: A Blueprint for Winning Market Share," DDC2004 will focus on customer acquisition and retention strategies.

"The Yellow Pages is a dynamic, global industry that generated revenues of $26.1 billion in 2003, according to The Kelsey Group¹s latest estimates," said Charles Laughlin, vice president and program director of The Kelsey Report®, and DDC2004 conference chair. "Growth in this industry is increasingly driven by new, digital products, and innovation is at a premium. This event is really about sharing best practices for increasing productivity, streamlining costs and driving top-line growth."

DDC2004 will feature a keynote address by Andrew Day, CEO of Sensis Pty. Ltd. Day has been focused on transforming Sensis, Australia's leading directory publisher, from a bureaucratic phone company affiliate into a dynamic 21st century organization. He has made customer satisfaction the cornerstone of the publisher¹s effort to build a more sustainable business for the future.

"We are delighted to offer DDC2004 attendees the opportunity to hear from Andrew Day, as his company truly exemplifies the focus of this conference," added Laughlin.

Session highlights from DDC2004's three-day agenda include:

  • How Local Advertisers are Changing their Spending in a Competitive Environment
  • Growing Core Product Usage – Relevance in a Digital World
  • The Convergence of Online Directories and Local Search
  • Making Money on the Move: Wireless Directories

In addition, four break-out sessions will offer insights on Content Enhancement, New Channels for Non-Advertisers, Optimizing Directory Distribution and Implications and Opportunities Created by Vertical Directories.

Since 1988, The Kelsey Group's annual Yellow Pages conference has been recognized as the definitive conference on the future of the industry.
